Different Ways to Make Money with a Blog
There are multiple ways to monetize a blog; you can do it through affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, display ads, digital products, memberships, or services. Let’s dive into each method a bit more below.
Affiliate marketing
One of the easiest ways to monetize a blog is through affiliate marketing; this means that when you mention a product in your post, you’ll include links for it so that if someone visits the affiliate link and makes a purchase, then you (the blogger) can get compensated.
There are various types of affiliate programs out there – some will pay you per click, others will give you commissions on the sale or lead, and others will pay every month.
Sponsored posts
Another option is to partner with brands and companies to do sponsored posts., which means that they’ll either give you money or a product in exchange for writing about it on your blog. You can get paid anywhere from $50 to $500+ per sponsored post, depending on the company, your audience size and what type of content you create.
Display ads
A display ad is when someone pays you to place an image or ad at the top or bottom of your site. When someone clicks on it, they’ll go to the advertiser’s website, and you (the blogger) will get paid for that click. Most display ads companies will pay anywhere from $0.05-$0.25 per click in the US.
Digital Products
You can also create digital products and sell them on your blog. These are things like workbooks, eBooks, or other documents that you made to help people get better results in their lives. This is my absolute favorite way to monetize my website.
Memberships
Another option is to set up a membership area where readers can subscribe for an ongoing monthly or yearly fee. The members will get access to more resources and content that you’ll create exclusively for them.
Services
Last but not least is to offer services through your blog. For example, if you run a fashion blog, you could opt to become a consultant instead of using display ads to make money with your site. You can charge people per hour or sell packages so they can work one-on-one with you.
In Conclusion
The different ways to make money with a blog are endless. Whether you want to focus on affiliate marketing, sponsored posts, or creating digital products. There is an option for every niche and industry out there that will allow you to monetize your content!
From including affiliate links on posts with craft tutorials or product reviews to selling digital goods like printables and course materials online–there’s something here that will work well for any type of blogger who wants to make money through blogging!

Wonderful 👍
I am a knitter with a capital “K” and yarn enthusiast extraordinaire. Knitting podcasters on YouTube abound, so I would need to learn how to stand out. I’ve considered having free learn to knit videos, but also creating content to pay to learn more advanced techniques.
Hi Suzi! What plugin are you using for your table of contents in the sidebar? Great post!
Hi Suzi,
It was a great article! Blogging is becoming a popular side hustle for many people. Several people in my network are thinking about setting up a blog and earning money from it. I think they will benefit greatly from this article. Your list contains some great options that will help the raiders make na informed decisions. Thanks a lot for taking the time and sharing it with the readers. I will definitely share this within my network to help people find the right type of blog for themselves.
Really appreciate your thoughts and are very helpful for the reader thanks for share.
I really would like to have a lifestyle blog that balanced advice on creating a beautiful home life with with reflections on creating a happy life from the inside out through good habits.
I’d rather not monetize with ads, I think they would distract attention from my articles. I hope I can create a online shop to sell my own products, perhaps both digital and physical, and find affiliate marketing opportunities I can honestly promote with enthusiasm.
Thank you so much for this detailed article.
My brand new blog is in the health and fitness category. My current strategy is writing response post to low competition keywords that I could possibly rank for. As soon as I have enough of those, I plan to focus on your strategy of pillar post, traffic post, email post, and income post as outlined in your blog by number ebook.
I will definitely consider affiliates, sponsorship, display ads, and digital products when I’m ready to start monetizing.
Thank you Suzi for always being relevant and offering such good ideas. You are my go-to for blogging information and I am looking forward to the new updates!
I haven’t made money from my blog yet, I am now halfway in the Printables by Number course. I am so happy and feel the accomplishment that I made my first sale on Etsy with the little products that I have created. I will be revisiting the course to learn how to create Blog Shop to sell my digital products. Thank you Suzi and John!
My blog would classify as a Christian blog, but it could also go under productivity. I write about productivity and simple living from a Christian perspective. Thank you for sharing info about blogging and how to make money from different types of blogs!
Hi Suzi! Thanks for all the great content on your website and video’s as well! I’m ready to take my homeschool blog to the next level and hope to learn much more from you. Baie dankie vir alles! 😉
I love learning foreign languages and also history and music. I am looking to discover my path. I have your Blog course and hope it can help in my clarity. Thank you and I send well wishes that you and you family stay safe and healthy. 😊
Suzi, thank you for all the content you continue to share with us. You are a trusted source of valuable (life changing) information. Your courses are so helpful. I would be completely lost without them! I have learned so much already and hope to learn even more. 🙂
Hi Suzi! I have a dog blog that currently focuses mostly on homemade treats and crafts for dogs. I’m hoping to eventually make enough with it that I can quit my job. I’m hoping that happens before all my kids graduate high school (my youngest is in 8th grade now) so I can spend some more time with them before they are all grown up.
Thank you Suzi for all the helpful information you provide and for sharing what you know in a fun, easy-to-learn, and colorful way! I appreciate that A LOT! I’m fairly new to your site, courses, teaching, etc but I definitely enjoy learning from you. I look forward to getting things up and running well with your guidance.😉
Suzi, you have a wealth of blogging knowledge and a wonderful way of sharing it. Your advice is always spot on and I can trust your info and products to help me succeed at blogging. Thank you for this inspiring post! With all the “noise” in the blogging world, you are my true north!
I learned quickly in your Blog by Number Course to combine my personal interests/passions with WITH the knowledge of which types of blogs make money! (& can’t thank you enough!). Learning to identify the problems people are trying to solve has been huge. Now I know how to write blog posts that rank on Google and use the content to sell my digital products. My sales are now up 500% from last year when I was just starting out! Thanks Suzy & John!
Great post! It’s inspiring to see all the options blogging has to offer. Following your passion + proficiency + profit formula, anything could work as a succesful blog! Thanks so much for all your help. I’m a new blogger and I’m really excited to turn it into a business and help as many people as I can.
Starting a mom blog was one of the smartest things I’ve done this year. Being able to help others (with the tips and tricks I thought everyone already knew!) has lifted me out of the postpartum dumps, given me new purpose, and revitalized my spirit.
I’m only sorry I didn’t find Suzi’s courses until AFTER I’d started my blog! Still, the advice you dispense in YouTube videos, blog posts, and your freebies and courses has been IMMEASURABLY HELPFUL!!! With your guidance, I know my blog’s growth has accelerated so much more than I ever could have if I was just winging it on my own!
Thanks for this post (and so many more), Suzi W! <3
Hi Suzi!
Thanks for yet another insightful post! I would say my blog is a combo of mom, kid activities, and craft/DIY. I started about 9 months ago and had no idea what I was doing (I still have a lot to learn). Your posts, videos, and emails have been my lifesaver! I recently bought Printables By Number and I love it! (Thanks for the coupon!)
Thank you for being such an inspiration!
