4 Landing Page Tricks to Increase Conversions

Before we get started, let’s stop and make certain that everyone understands exactly what a landing page is. I’ll break it down for you in super simple terms so there isn’t any confusion, at all.

What is a landing page?

Landing pages are basically a page or pages on your site that is considered to be your main sales page. It can be an opt-in or have a specific focus on a product, service, or course that you’re trying to sell.

The ENTIRE purpose of a landing page is to get your readers to take action. This can be for your product or if you’re an affiliate, it can be for that product as well.

A landing page can also be used as a conversion process to get people from step 1 to step 2 in their buying process or it might be just the right “nudge” to get them to take action to become a follower.

In my own personal life, I just recently came across the perfect landing page that was really poorly done. I was shopping around on Amazon (shocker!) and was looking to buy these really cute coloring pages for the kids. But the challenge was that there was nothing really showing what I was going to get.

Now, from the perspective of the person that is selling these coloring pages, I get that they didn’t want to give away all the images because someone could easily copy them, but it was so poorly laid out that it was actually confusing to me and they ended up losing me as a customer. (which is a shame because it just looked like it could have been such a cute printable for my kids!)

Do you know what I would have changed about this listing? Read through our tips first and find out at the bottom of the post.

How to increase conversions on your landing page

There are our top four tips on how to increase conversions quickly and easily on your own personal landing page. (These tricks will work for printables, course offerings, tangible products, and even opt-ins as well!)

Have a catchy headline

This is a must. A MUST. The headline is going to be the first thing that people see. It’s literally the most important line of text that is going to be on that entire page.

If your headline is confusing, you’ll lose them.

If your headline doesn’t stand out, you’ll lose them.

If your headline is too long, you’ll lose them.

Catch on to what I’m saying? Your headline has to offer clarity and give the reader the desire to take action.

It should let them know why they are there and why they NEED to have what you’re promoting or offering.

Your headline is imperative for driving results. For this to be a success, it needs to be short and catchy and also have a stellar hero image to go along with it.

Wait – what? A hero what?

Have an awesome hero image

I hear ya – this might be a new term. If you’re wondering what in the world a hero image is, you’re not alone.

A hero image is basically a beautiful image that catches the eye and holds it there. It needs to be directly on your sales page, be clear, be concise, and created in a way that it’s the main image on your page as well.

The hero image is a chance to show your audience a snippet of what they’re going to get. You don’t have to give away the entire pie with the image…just show them a piece or two to make them want it even more.

I believe so much in this truth that I created a product to make it easier. It’s called 100 Heroes and I’ve literally made 100 different templates that you can just plug in images and use on your landing pages. Some of these exact hero images have worked extremely well for me and I’m hoping that the same will be for you.

Value Stack Your Products

Did you know that not everyone’s minds process things the same way? While this might be a super obvious statement, once I said this out loud it was extremely helpful in me getting a different point of view on how I sell and market my products.

People want to see what they’re getting for the amount of money that they’re paying. Plain and simple – they want to FEEL like they’re getting a good deal.

The good news is that this is really easy to accomplish. You need to have a killer hero image (there’s that term again!) on your sales page and then use the best verbiage to explain what they’re buying and how much money they’re actually saving.

When you’re explaining a value stack, don’t leave anything out.

Tell them how many courses they’re getting for one small price.

Let them know that these printables normally cost $10 each but the bundle is only costing them “this” amount of money.

Be as transparent as possible so that they understand they need your product or offering because it’s going to end up saving them money in the long room. (and truthfully, it probably is)

Explain the features, let them know how to use the workflow, write out the number of templates that they’re getting, and then BLOW THEIR MINDS with the low, low price that you’re offering.

The value stack shows the value of each component of your offer, not the actual price. A book on how to invest your 401K may only cost $19, but the value of knowing how to invest your retirement funds can save you thousands in the long run.

The definition of value (noun) is:

  1. the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something.

Show off your offer’s worth and usefulness.

This will make them want to act quickly and make a purchase. Seal the deal by breaking the offerings down showing the individual value of each piece.

Have your section laid out where you add up value and then show them a few times on your sales page about how much money they’re saving by purchasing the bundle price. Everyone wants a good deal in life and to know their money is stretching far.

You’ve got a short amount of time to convince them that they’re getting an AMAZING price AND an amazing VALUE all in one purchase.

And if you still feel as though people are being skeptical, break down the cost savings by comparing how much they’d have to pay for a graphic designer or some other professional to do the same things that you’re offering in your course or product. That could be a huge game-changer for sure and help make it click in their minds that they need to purchase right now.

Of course, don’t lie on your sales page. Don’t have crazy unbelievable numbers stating that your offer is actually valued at $100K but you’re selling it for $7. Be realistic and truthful – but don’t be afraid to show off the value of your product.

If you don’t think it’s valuable, why would your customer think so?

Put testimonies on your landing page

You’ll be amazed at how many people will buy your product or service just because someone has left a positive review.

And isn’t this what we all do as well? I know that when I head to Amazon to buy something, I scroll to the review section and read the comments and reviews first, before doing anything else.

If you have the ability to get reviews, have them on your landing page for all to see. You also should add an image next to their testimonial so that your readers can put a face to the words. This is important.

But what happens if you don’t have any sales or don’t have any testimonials yet?

I’m a big believer that a little bit of humor on your sales page can go a long way. You should branch out and get a testimonial from your family and friends, even your dog. Have FUN with this.

You have an abundance of people in your life that love you and think that you’re extremely smart so get those people to say something nice and have it posted on your sales page. These don’t have to stay up for long, but long enough to get a few sales! You can then switch them out later for other testimonies if you want. (or you can totally leave them up and just have humor be your thing, too!)

How to increase conversions on your sales and landing pages

See how easy these 4 simple tips are? You can easily convert more on your sales page and landing page just by implementing these tips and tricks. You’ll be amazed that the little changes that you make can really make a HUGE difference in your conversions and your sales.

Okay, let’s circle back to the coloring pages on Amazon that I mentioned earlier. I would have bought them because I loved them but I couldn’t be certain that they were exactly what I wanted…and I know exactly what I would have done differently if it had been up to me.

All this seller had to do was have an awesome image layout on their page. And if they were worried about giving away too many of the images, they could have easily made them lay over the top of each other in a way that they couldn’t be copied or stolen.

All I needed was just a quick view of some of the other contents of what was inside the coloring book but since I couldn’t see that, they lost me as a customer. If they would have had that one simple change, I wouldn’t have even hesitated to make a purchase.

Final Thoughts on Landing Page Tricks to Increase Conversions

When it comes to your sales copy and making sales, these simple tricks will help you convert. Make certain that you’re clear and concise and present all the information in a simple way that doesn’t overwhelm them but instead encourage them to buy.

The more concise information that you can put on the landing page, the better. It’s also important to be flexible in making changes on your landing page as well. This can be a hard pill to swallow but it’s important to understand.

If your current plan on your landing page isn’t making sales, you might need to reconsider and do something differently. This is the beauty of knowing these tips and tricks that we’ve presented to you today. You can easily alter them and change things up to see if it has a positive impact on your conversions.

Because remember – the work you put in to create your products is valuable and I don’t want you to get discouraged when you have low conversions just because your sales page is lacking. Showcase your products in the right way to get others to see and understand their value as well!
